World Premiere of the First Portuguese Guitar Concerto in History

  • Stratford Art House 14 Rother Street Stratford-upon-Avon, England, CV37 6LU United Kingdom (map)

Portuguese composer and multi-instrumentalist Pedro Henriques da Silva will perform the World-premiere of the first Portuguese guitar concerto in history, a composition of his own, with Orchestra of the Swan under the baton of David Curtis. The concert will take place on Tuesday, December 5th 2017 at 7:30 pm, at the Stratford Arts House, located on 14 Rother Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, UK.

Da Silva’s concerto was commissioned by the visionary Korean photographer, Ahae, and the Sorel Foundation in New York. The concerto draws inspiration from a series of Ahae’s photographs of Dusk, Night, and Dawn.

The program will also include “Clouds” for piano and orchestra composed by Lucia Caruso, who will perform as soloist for Orchestra of the Swan. This work was also commissioned by Ahae, inspired by a series of cloud photographs from his exhibit Through my Window.

Orchestra of the Swan will additionally perform Copland’s “Music for Movies” and “Music for the Theatre.”
